SC denies students’ plea seeking modification; NEET first phase exam on May 1

New Delhi: Quashing the plea by a group of students seeking modification in its ruling, the Supreme Court, on Saturday, said that the common entrance test, NEET, for admissions to medical colleges will held as per the schedule, i.e. May 1st.

A group of students appealed before the court mentioning that the syllabus followed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the respective state boards are different and hence they have not got enough time to prepare for the entrance exam.

SC ruled couple of days before that NEET would replace AIPMT exam held by the CBSE board.

NEET first phase examination will be held on May 1. Nearly 6.5 lakh students are expected to take it.

NEET second phase has been scheduled for July 24 in which 2.5 lakh candidates will appear.

NEET Results 2016 for both the phases will be announced on August 17.
