Seven coaches of Hirakhand Express derailed, 30 killed and several injured

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh): Another derailment incident occurred as seven coaches of the Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express got derailed near Kuneru station in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh killing as many as 30 people and leaving several others injured.

The incident took place around 11.30 p.m. at the time when the train was going from Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) to Odisha capital Bhubaneswar and seven coaches and the engine of the 18448 Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Express got derailed near Kuneru station.

Chief PRO of East Cost Railway J.P. Mishra stated: “Besides the engine, the luggage van, two general coaches, two sleeper coaches, one AC three tier coach and an AC two tier coach derailed.”

“Four accident relief vans have been sent to the accident site. The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained,” the official said.
