Shaan-e-Awadh International Film Festival begins on a high note

Lucknow: The city of Nawabs, Lucknow today saw the commencement of the ‘Shaan-e-Awadh International Film Festival 2016 at the Bhartendu Natya Academy, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow in presence of esteemed writers and historians and filmmakers.

Among the well known personalities present were- The present Nawab of Lucknow, Nawab Jafar Mir Abdullah, Dr. Yogesh Praveen, an Indian author and expert on the history and culture of Avadh, specifically Lucknow.

Along with them was present writer and Programme director Hafeez Kidwai who along with Festival director Ashwani Singh thanked the people present there for their support.


The main motive of the festival this time was to showcase the biography of the legendary singer Mohammad Rafi. The 63 minutes documentary of the legend showed the life of the legend comprising of ups and downs he faced during his career.


Talking on the stage, Nawab Jafar Mir stated that he felt overwhelmed to be a part of this festival as he was the one who inaugurated this event back in the year 2011 and congratulated Ashwani Singh and his family who made all efforts to make sure this festival reaches out to people on a large scale.


He also said that he wants the students and young faces to be positive citizens of the country and help the society in every possible way. Talking about the individual’s personality he said that if you belong to the city of nawabs then you should have that reflection in the way of greeting and talking to others as culture of Awadh is very much different from all other parts of the country.

He made students present there aware of some of the most interesting facts that they should know about Lucknow and its culture. He also motivated the audience by saying that they need to get involved in such events as this will be a great platform for opportunities.
