Sheila appointed party-in-charge of Punjab

New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been appointed as party-in-charge of Punjab, she has replaced Kamal Nath who has stepped down from the post over allegations of his role in the 1984 anti-Sikhs riots.

Basically, Dikshit who belongs to Punjab’s Kapoorthala district and interestingly believed to have close relationship with Congress Chief Minster’s face Amrinder Singh.

The election in the Punjab state is schedule in 2017.

Stepping down from his post, Kamal Nath said in his letter to party President Sonia Gandhi, “I request that I may be relieved of my charge (of Punjab) to ensure that the attention is not diverted from the real issues facing Punjab.”
