Sheila Dikshit likely to appoint unit chief of UP

New Delhi: The Congress party may appoint former Delhi Chief Minister as the unit chief of Uttar Pradesh keeping in mind the value of upcoming assembly election in 2017; the party is like to take this decision.

In a proposal to enhance political activity ahead of the 2017 UP polls, the Congress has decided to make Dikshit the unit chief of Uttar Pradesh as she has vast political experience.

According to party sources, the final call in this regard has to be taken by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi.

Sources further added: She is a strong contender for as UP Congress Chief, so this is the reason that she might gain the post of unit chief of Uttar Pradesh.

Dikshit is a daughter-in-law of Congress politician Uma Shankar Dikshit, who was a close associate to Nehru-Gandhi family.

Sources said that the party will benefit from Dikshit’s vast political experience in the upcoming polls in UP.

The statement was given by senior Congress politician associated with UP politics said that Dikshit was quoted saying as the ‘bahu’ (daughter-in-law) of Uttar Pradesh is willing to take any charge offered by the Congress high command for the assembly elections.

There have been speculations over Dikshit and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi playing a major role in the UP assembly elections.
