Shooter Gurpreet Singh wins the national championship, bags in gold medal

Pune: The Olympian shooter Gurpreet Singh has won the national championship and had shot 35 which is the new national record and also proved his mettle by bagging in the gold medal.

Earlier than this, he had shot in nine nationals but never had been that fortunate but this time he not only bagged in gold medal but also made a new national record by eight points.

While the silver and the bronze medal went to Neeraj Kumar and London Olympics medallist Vijay Kumar respectively and both of them were also from Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) shooters.

The scores were as such; Gurpreet shot 35 in the six-man finals and stood first followed up closely by Neeraj who shot 29 and Vijay 24 for second and third positions respectively.

The score made by shooter Gurpreet also was equal to the world record but since this was a national championship it won’t be counted by the International Sports Ferderation.
