Shutdown paralyses normal life in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The shutdown in Kerala initiated by ruling LDF today looked to be effective as only private vehicles were working, offices saw less attendance resulting in the crippling of normal life.

At the same time as the leading national opposition parties called for a nationwide protest as the consequences of the demonetisation, in Kerala the ruling Left Democratic Front government resoluted to organise a shutdown.

The shutdown was initiated to condemn the demonetisation of high value currency which has landed the cooperative banks in the state in chaos.

Attendances in banks were poor, as vehicular traffic was affected.
