SIMI former chief Nagori sentenced to lifetime imprisonment

Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) former chief Safdar Nagori has been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment finding him guilty on the charges of sedition along with 11 others accused by a Central Bureau of Investigation court in Indore on Monday.




While delivering the sentence through video conference as all accused including Nagori is currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati jail in Gujarat, pronounced the judgment on finding them guilty on charges of hate speech, conducting training camps, and for promoting anti-national literature against the accused.




The sentencing was pronounced through a video conference on the prior request of all the three major accused Safdar, Ahmad Baig and Mohammad Yasin through an application moved by them after they recorded their statements on February 23.

The court stated: “All the accused have been found guilty of the charge of treason under IPC’s section 124A.”
