Somdev Devvarman takes retirement from professional tennis

New Delhi: India’s sensational lawn tennis player Somdev Devvarman who is coping from his injuries today announced his retirement from professional tennis career.




Somdev wrote on his Twitter page, “Starting 2017 on a new note, retiring from pro tennis. Thanks to everyone for the love and support over the years #newyearnewbeginnings.”

This young 31-year-old player’s career was hampered by a recurring shoulder injury in 2012. He recovered to stage a comeback but was missing from action from a long time without any specified reason.




There were reports that after taking retirement he might take a job of coaching from here on.

He started playing professional tennis from the year 2008 who use to play for India’s Davis Cup squad regularly.
