SP leader’s aide arrested by Delhi crime branch

NEW DELHI: Delhi police detained an aide of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Munawwar Saleem in connection with the espionage ring run by a Pakistani high commission official. SP Rajya Sabha MP Saleem, is known to be close to senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.

Delhi crime branch officials said they detained Farhat, an aide of SP Rajya Sabha MP Saleem late last night. Farhat is currently being interrogated.
Police has previously detained Pakistan high commission official Mehmood Akhtar along with two Indians identified as Maulana Ramzan and Subhash Jangir at the Delhi Zoo while they were exchanging sensitive defence documents.
One more accomplice of Akhtar, a Jodhpur-based passport and visa agent called Shoaib, was arrested near Jodhpur on Thursday evening.
