SP minister along with police demolish ‘dalit basti’ in Rampur

Rampur: Samajwadi Party has been in trouble for rising crime in the recent past and now new allegations have been charged on the cabinet minister Azam Khan for demolishing the dalit basti in Rampur.

Administration and minister have been held responsible for destroying the entire Dalit colony overnight.

Incident took place two days back when in massive demolition drive carried by Rampur administration near about 25 houses at Valmiki Basti were demolished here on Monday amid heavy deployment of force.

The demolition drive was carried in the area situated near a newly-constructed shopping complex by the district administration.

The authorities in its warning earlier declared the buildings as illegal encroachment over government land.

In 2015, the issue had hit headlines when hundreds of Valmikis had threatened to embrace Islam if their houses, where they had been living for the past 60 years, were demolished.

The demolition drive was carried by district administration at around 6 am in the wee hours.
