Supreme Court to hear defamation case against Congress’ Rahul Gandhi today

New Delhi: On Saturday, the apex court will hear Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s plea demanding stay on Bombay HC’s order which refuses to quash the defamation case against him for his remark on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In April, SC had deferred the plea till the second week of May. The Gandhi scion had asked the SC to reject the defamation case registered against him by the RSS in the month of March.

In the court’s hearing, Gandhi’s counsel said that that there are several judgements and evidences that are enough to prove that the defamation case filed against her was inane.

Also, Rahul Gandhi had refused SC’s offer to express regret for his comment of holding the RSS responsible for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and thereby get the defamation case against him buried.
