Suresh Raina not to play 1st ODI against Kiwis due to viral fever

New Delhi: Indian all-rounder batsman Suresh Raina who is recovering from viral fever will not to play the first One-Day International (ODI) match against New Zealand to be played on Sunday in Dharamsala.

Team India who thrashed the Kiwis in the Test series by 3-0, Host will take on the visitors in a five-match ODI series with the first match scheduled at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium at Dharamsala.

According to official from the Indian cricket board said: “The BCCI medical team has confirmed that Suresh Raina, who is recovering from a bout of viral fever, is ruled out of the first ODI of the Paytm ODI Trophy against New Zealand.”

The cricket governing body in India has decided no replacement for the senior left-hander batsman.

The Dharamsala ODI will be followed by the second match at the Ferozshah Kotla in New Delhi on October 20 while the third and fourth matches will be played respectively at Mohali (October 23) and Ranchi (October 26).

The final of the ODI series will be hosted on October 29th at Vizag.
