Lucknow: On Monday, former Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) leader, Swami Prasdad Maurya is likely to join BJP in the national along with his supporters and numerable former party leaders.
Maurya quit BSP on June 22 and accused its supremo Maywati of selling tickets and thereby cheating on the Dalits. Also, Maurya who was the leader of the opposition in the UP assembly was considered at the OBC face of BSP.
Sources close to the development said that Maurya would fly down to New Delhi today so as to join BJP.
A confirmation on the same came from a BJP veteran. Maurya will also be accompanied by few former BSP leaders, Shivpur MLA Udai Lal and former MLCs and MLAs among others.
Maurya joining BJP would be an additional benefit to the party as he would help woo the Kushwaha-Maurya electorate in the UP Polls. He would also help reach out the dissatisfied supporters of BSP.
