Ten Indian army soldiers died in two separate avalanches in Kashmir valley

Srinagar: In a sad back to Indian army it has lost at least ten of its soldiers after two separate avalanches hits army posts near Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurez Sector of Bandipora district today.

An army statement said, “Ten soldiers killed in two separate tragedies in Gurez sector of the LoC on Wednesday.”

After the avalanche hit their camp, a junior Commander Officer (JCO) and six soldiers were rescued immediately but several other were remain trapped.

The rescue team of Indian army managed to retrieved bodies of three soldiers on Thursday morning.

An army patrolling team moving towards its post in another incident went missing after an avalanche hit the same area again on Wednesday.

In a separate avalanche in Sonamarg in Ganderbal district an Army officer was killed and four soldiers were injured on Wednesday.
