Tharoor slams Modi, wants introduction of Mahabharata, Ramayan in curricular

Jaipur: Member of Parliament (MP) from Congress Party, Shashi Tharoor today targeted Narnedra Modi and said that the Prime Minister and his Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) have rooted hostility even while hailing Mahatma Gandhi.




Tharoor also expressed his desire to introduce Mahabharat and Ramayana as a course of study in a school and collage while speaking at the Jaipur Literature Festival.

He said that discussion on ‘Remembering the Raj’ did not necessarily related to the Central Government only.




Tharoor accused the BJP government and its ideological Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of paying mere lip services to the Father of the Nation.

The Congress leader was asked by publisher Michael Dwyer to give his perspective on Gandhi’s “tricks and tactics”.




He said, Gandhiji used tricks and tactics against the British Empire that worked because they were obliged to allow Gandhiji to lead the campaign as he wished. It was because there was a moral deficiency in the British and even they knew they were wrong.”
