These two Indian players make a mark in ICC ODI rankings

Dubai: After defeating Australia in the one day match series by 4-1, India opener Rohit Sharma with the help of brilliant innings managed to claim the fifth spot on the other hand spinner Axar Patel got hold of his career-best seventh rank in the International Cricket Council (ICC) One-Day International (ODI) player rankings.

Rohit Sharma was also awarded the man of the match in the fifth and final one day international match against Australia for his brilliant century and helped him mount four places in the ICC ODI batsman ranking.

Opening batmen is now at the fifth spot while it was also a good day for the Gujarat spinner Axar Patel as he picked up a three-wicket haul in the final match against Australia that resulted into the three places to take the seventh spot in the ICC ODI bowler ranking.

“Sharma’s 296 runs in the series, which included a fine 125 in the last match in Nagpur, contributed significantly to India’s convincing victory over the World champions that helped the home side grab the No.1 position in the MRF Tyres ICC ODI Team Rankings. Sharma is now on a career-best 790 rating points but his highest ranking has been third, which he attained in February 2016,” the ICC said in a statement. ”
