Two LeT militants killed in gunfight in north Kashmir

Srinagar: In a gunfight between the security forces and militants at least two terrorists were killed today in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

According to police officials, they have got specific information about militant presence in Bonikhan village, reacting on the sequence the troops of state police launched the operation that belongs to the 13 Rashtriya Rifles and the special operations group (SOG).

When the troops reached close to the hiding militants, they opened fire triggering the encounter.

A senior police officer said, “The militants were engaged in a sustained gunfight that resulted in killing two of them.”

He further said, “Both the slain militants were believed to be of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. However, their exact identities were being established.”

The officer added that they have recovered new currency notes of Rs 2,000 from these two militants who have been killed by the security forces.
