Two security forces officials injured during fresh attack in Kashmir valley

Srinagar: An Indian army soldier along with one policeman got injured today during a gun battle between security forces and four guerrillas who hided them self in a government building in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to police officer, theses four heavily armed militants entered into Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) in Pampore town in the morning along with heavy firing at security forces.

Theis multi-storey building is located some 12 km from the Srinagar city centre on the banks of the Jhelum river.

The officer said that the militants changed their positions constantly to avoid getting killed. “They are firing intermittently and frequently changing their position inside the building.”

The official sources said, security forces fired rockets and used light machine guns in a bid to localize the guerrillas so as to launch a final assault without suffering major casualties.

The joint operation was launched by the army, the Special Operations Group of the state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soon after the militants’ presence was reported.
