UP CM Akhilesh meets governor, briefed him about political situation

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today met Governor Ram Naik amid the bitter political feuding in the state’s ruling Samajwadi Party.

There was no official word from Raj Bhavan on the meeting and officials said it was a routine meeting in which the Chief Minister extended “advance greetings” for Diwali to the Governor.

The meeting comes hours after the Samajwadi Party today expelled Minister of State for Forests Pawan Pandey for slapping a close aide of party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The announcement of the disciplinary action was made by state party chief Shivpal Singh Yadav, who is locked in a power tussle with his nephew, the Chief Minister.

Sources from the Raj Bhawan told media person that the 30-minute meeting was “detailed and exhaustive” as the Chief Minister informed the Governor of the developments within his party.
