US Open update: Andy Murray enters quarters, Venus Williams knocked out

New York: Britain’s Andy Murray with his brilliant play at the quarter-finals of the US Open today managed to move ahead in the tournament.

His dominating approach to the game against Grigor Dimitrov gave his a comfortable 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 win.

While on the other hand among the women contenders sixth-seeded Venus Williams was knocked out as she lost the game 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) to 10th-seeded Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.

Following her win against Venus, Pliskova stated: “I was prepared that I’m going to play Venus. It’s going to be tough, because all the people are cheering for her.”
