US storm: 11 people killed, 25 injured

Atlanta: According to the information given by the local authorities, storms hitting the southern United States have caused death of 11 persons in the state of Georgia while more than 25 people have been reported to have succumbed to injuries.

Emergency management authorities gave information that minimum of 11 people have been killed in the storm and authorities had earlier in the day issued tornado warnings for towns in southern Georgia.

Areas where fatalities occurred include Cook County, while four others were reported to be killed in Brooks and Berrien Counties. On the other hand four persons lost their life in Mississippi due to the powerful influence of the tornado.

There was harsh destruction caused 40 kilometres (25 miles) long distance through the southern part of that state and subsequent to this storm, southern US has been on storm alert over the weekend.
