New Delhi: Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli has been nominated for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award on Tuesday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
However, Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane has been recommended for the Arjuna Award.
BCCI has nominated any cricketer after 4 years for the prestigious Khel Ratna.
Virat has played some tremendous Cricket and with his impactful batting, he guided India to the semi-finals of the World T20.
The 27-year-old was given the `Man of the Tournament` in World T20 for smashing a total of 273 runs and was also named the captain of the World T20 XI.
Previously, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni received Khel Ratna.
The prestigious award carries a cash price of Rs. 7.5 lakh in addition to a citation, while the Arjuna awardee receives a cash prize of Rs. five lakh and a citation.
